Students enrolled in the Phase 3 Training Corporation Elevator Technician Assistant track would matriculate through a 10-week pre-apprenticeship program to qualify them to enter a registered Elevator Mechanic Apprenticeship Program. Graduates from the program will earn a certificate that would certify their understanding of elevator repair basics and safety. In this course, students will gain general knowledge of the construction and operation of AC and DC machines used on elevator systems.

General Maintenance Practices 

In this course, students will gain fundamental knowledge of all components that comprise an elevator installation. Students will also gain fundamental knowledge of the method for maintaining, adjusting, and performing the replacement of maintenance related components.

Basic Print Reading

In this course, students will gain knowledge of elevator related drawings and terminology used in the industry. Students will gain knowledge of overall basic print reading.

Electrical Safety and Theory

In this course, students will gain understanding of basic aspects of working safely around electrical equipment. Students will gain an understanding of the principles associated with electricity and electrical circuits. Students will become familiar with the National Electrical Code and its purpose.

Introduction to the Vertical Transportation Industry 

In this course, students will gain knowledge in The Accessibility Lift and Private Residence Elevator history, evolution of the national codes and standards and the American with Disability Act (ADA) and the impact on the industry.
